Great Mexican fare and ceviche are not always easy to find on the island of Oahu, but tucked away in Wahiawa, Barrio Café makes all our dreams come true! This small family-owned business run by Chef Miriam Oliva and her husband Omar, is a hidden gem known for its authentic cuisine, friendly staff and Friday taco nights.
Yelp Elites were lucky enough to be treated to a ceviche party to celebrate Miriam’s newest additions to the Barrio Café menu. Yelper Sage B shares, “My favorite dish had to be the popular Coctel de Camarones; a traditional shrimp cocktail served in a house crafted savory sauce loaded with cucumbers, avocado, onions and tomatoes.” In addition to six ceviche dishes, guests were also treated to delicious watermelon agua fresca, chips and homemade salsa and a variety of beers.
This Wahiawa neighborhood favorite is open six days a week for lunch, on Fridays for taco night and is BYOB. Get your Mexican food fix at Barrio Café and be sure to check out the 5-star reviews and photos.
